The goal of this album was to make it resonate something really, really true that came from the body. There is no compromise. To me it was like playing the cello. When is tuned so that it's ringing - singing against your sternum - you go for a tone that evokes the truth of your whole self. That's the timbre that I'm talking about. - Sophie B. Hawkins Listen

Writen, produced and performed by Sophie, TIMBRE marks her first album in four years follows her two gold albums: Whaler (which featured the Top 10 hit "As I Lay Me Down," which is one of the longest charting radio tracks in the history of at 67 weeks and Tongues And Tails (which feature the top 5 hit "Damn I wish I Was Your Lover"). Sophie is driven to music as the only way to express her true feelings and on TIMBRE nothing is held back. Twelve self -penned songs offer a mix of organic and electric instruments creating sensually layered arrangements that sometimes ring like a modern wall of sound ("No Connection") or build to rocking climaxes (Your Tonge Is Like The Sun In My Mouth" and "The One You Have Not Seen"). Primal screams and strings puntuate the sensuous "32 Lines" while tribal chants make the frightening and compelling "Darkest Childe" even more mysterious and primitive. Whith her husky vocals, uses whatevre dramatic expression is necessary to deliver her emotional vision. She prods, promises, pleads and provokes to attain life's simple pleasures: Honesty, being true to herself and, as she sings in the opening track, "Strange Thing," - a place for my heart to belong...
