Madonna
Files $2.5 Million Suit Over Taxes :
No one is
immune to the sting of taxes... not even Madonna.
According to the Associated Press,
the singer
has filed a $2.5 million lawsuit against her
former financial advisers claiming they are
responsible
for $2 million in state taxes she had to shell
out to New York state. Madonna, who
also heads
up Maverick Records, reportedly filed the suit
against Padell, Nadell, Fine, Weinberger
& Co.
on Tuesday and charges the firm with malpractice
and breach of contract. The singer, her
personal
corporation, and Maverick are reportedly named as
the suit's plaintiffs, and are seeking $2
million in
compensatory damages and $500,000 in punitive
damages according to the AP. Speaking
with the
news agency, the firm's Bert Padell said that the
suit was sparked after Madonna claimed
herself as
a California resident on her 1992 taxes. Padell
told the AP that New York disagreed, and
came
calling to the tune of $2 million. Madonna
reportedly fired the firm in 1996.

to Miami,
where we
waited outside a building for several hours
before someone told us that Ricky Martin
was
being
interviewed on the other side of town. So with
browsers at the ready, we once again deliver the
latest
pronouncements from the pedestal. And the word is
his duet with Madonna, "Be Careful,"
will not be
the next single as the Material Girl was
unavailable for the video. "I'm definitely
recording,
shooting
that video with 'the Goddess,' with Madonna,"
said the excitable studmuffin. "We're now
working
with which [sic] schedule. … She's doing a
movie at the moment. She'll be doing theatre
later
on; so
hopefully by first week [sic] … second week
of December, we'll be shooting this video in
San Juan,
Puerto Rico. Looking forward [sic]. I said it. I'm
not supposed to say this, but I said it."
